Every year, NFL teams step up to the podium with the most valuable asset in football… and 5 out of the last 6 times, they’ve hit the same button:
“Draft Quarterback.”
From Joe Burrow to Caleb Williams, the pattern is about as subtle as a blitz. Need a franchise reset? Quarterback. Need hope? Quarterback. Need job security for another year? Definitely quarterback.
Then there’s 2022… when the Jacksonville Jaguars zigged while everyone else zagged and took Travon Walker instead. A bold move. A spicy move. The one year the draft didn’t feel like a QB vending machine.
The takeaway?
If you’ve got the #1 pick, you’re not overthinking it. You’re drafting a QB and hoping he’s “the guy.” Because if he is, you’re a genius. If he’s not… well, see you back here in a couple years with another #1 pick.
And probably drafting another quarterback.
