Keeping up with AI news can feel like watching a movie where someone changes the plot every 30 minutes. A new model arrives. Another company promises to reinvent work. Somewhere, a chatbot discovers a brand-new way to be confidently wrong.
That constant movement is why I built The Drone Report, my AI news project under the Skynet Tribune name. The last aspect of the change will be converting The Skynet Tribune names all over to TheDrone.Report. It brings headlines together in one place with links to the original reporting and a refresh schedule of every half hour.
Recently, I expanded the sources feeding the site and made some adjustments to give that coverage more variety.
Five new sources joined the mix:
- Ars Technica AI
- IEEE Spectrum AI
- The Register AI + ML
- 404 Media
- Rest of World

Those additions sit alongside outlets including WIRED, TechCrunch, The Verge, and Engadget. You can see the lineup on the Sources page.
My goal is to make room for more of the AI story: the technology itself, the business decisions behind it, the people affected by it, and the consequences that rarely fit neatly into a product announcement. I also want a wider view of what is happening beyond the same handful of companies.
Silicon Valley already has enough people holding its microphone.
Adding sources was only part of the update. I also adjusted how many stories each source can contribute to the selection process. A publication that posts frequently should not automatically crowd out everyone else.
Google Alerts now has a lower priority and a smaller allowance. It remains useful for discovering additional coverage, but I wanted the publisher feeds to do more of the work.
These changes do not guarantee a perfectly balanced front page. They give the site a better starting point and give me something useful to keep evaluating as the project develops.
That has been one of the most interesting parts of building this. Getting a website online is one milestone. Figuring out what makes it worth returning to is an ongoing job.
Working with GitHub and Cloudflare has also turned the project into a practical learning experience. Every update raises another question: What should the site prioritize? Where is the repetition coming from? Is the automation making the page more useful?
For me, that is where the fun is. I get to combine my interest in AI with web development and the challenge of organizing information into something people might actually want to read.
The Drone Report is the quick headline stop. Here on Montanimation, I have more room for commentary, deeper dives, and the occasional pop-culture comparison that nobody requested but everyone will have to live with.
Take a look at The Drone Report and explore the expanded mix. If there is an AI news source you think deserves a spot, let me know.
The machines can help collect the headlines. We still get to question them.
